Ready to roll the dice and claim a spot on the board? Riyadh Monopoly, an exciting new edition of the world’s favourite board game, was officially announced on last night 26 June 2025.
Designed to reflect Riyadh’s rich culture, notable landmarks and dynamic spirit, the iconic board game was unveiled at a lavish ceremony at the state-of-the-art KAFD Conference Centre, located in the prestigious King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in the city.
Attended by Government, media, tourism, education and cultural representatives, guests heard how the new Riyadh Monopoly edition is more than just a boardgame.
“Riyadh Monopoly reflects our goal of making big, strategic projects accessible and engaging to all ages. As the leading destination for international and local businesses in Saudi Arabia, we are creating new opportunities for the next generation to thrive. We want the new generation to recognize the names and places shaping their future. What better way than through play?” said Mazroua Al-Mazroua, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer, at the King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC).
For 90 years, MONOPOLY has been bringing families together for fun and fierce competition. With 275 million games sold worldwide, the fast-dealing property trading game holds a Guinness World Record, as the best-selling board game in history. Now, Riyadh gets its own edition, to inspire players, young and old, to explore the city’s heritage and vibrant future.
With over half of Riyadh’s residents under the age of 20, Riyadh Monopoly is crafted to unite generations in friendly rivalry, whether strategizing over historic streets or modern skyscrapers.
“This colourful boardgame captures the city’s energy and ambition,” says the KAFD Chief Marketing & Experience Officer at KAFD DMC. “It’s a fun way for families and friends to connect with Riyadh’s heritage and its exciting future.”
Riyadh Monopoly was described as a storytelling platform that acts as both a tribute to the past, and a vision of the future. It engages families, business and cultural organisations, alike, in the Kingdom’s evolving narrative.
Sharif Hamad bin Majed Alowaishiq, Founder & Chairman of Saudi Youth Society adds, “This game is a brilliant platform for young Saudis to engage with their culture, while dreaming big, and taking pride in their city. New generations can see the city’s stunning transformation, with important investment in both urban development and cultural preservation.”
The launch signals Saudi Arabia’s emergence as a global destination for leisure, culture and innovation, guests were told. In a celebration of iconic landmarks and modern identity, the Riyadh Monopoly board itself is a cultural artefact, mapping the capital’s evolution from historic quarters to striking skyscrapers, world-class districts, like KAFD, and new urban infrastructure and facilities.
“We’re thrilled to be featured on the board, alongside so many important landmarks” shares Anna Power, Principal at the BISR Diplomatic Quarter campus. “Riyadh Monopoly encourages learning and community spirit, which our students and families embrace. This classic family game will give visitors and residents a new way to look at the city of Riyadh, and the wider Kingdom.”
Given the popularity of MONOPOLY worldwide, it is anticipated this new edition will offer an opportunity to introduce the city, and its most iconic locations, to a wider international audience.
The Riyadh Monopoly board game will be available in stores across Saudi Arabia from September 2025.
