LG has ventured into new territory with its StanbyME Go, a 27-inch touchscreen TV built into a military-grade briefcase. This device features an integrated sound system, HDMI connectivity, and the same webOS software found in LG's premium TVs. It's designed for portability, though at 28 pounds, it’s more practical for road trips than air travel.
Despite its weight, the StanbyME Go offers a unique entertainment experience. It can be used for tailgating, camping, or as a mobile entertainment system. Its versatility extends to various environments where a permanent TV setup isn't feasible. However, its hefty price tag of $1,200 and average display specs may be a deterrent for some.
The StanbyME Go boasts a 1080p screen with a peak brightness of 500 nits, suitable for both indoor and outdoor viewing. It includes Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos speakers, although the display's brightness and sound system do not fully meet these high standards. The device also offers multiple viewing modes and automatic power-down when the briefcase is closed.
The StanbyME Go is quite heavy and lacks water resistance, making it less suitable for outdoor activities involving water. Its battery life averages around three hours, with possible extension through energy-saving features. Additionally, its price point may make it less appealing compared to traditional tablets or portable monitors.
