Always set in flight with the same gesture and tracing the same characteristic arc, the arrow spans the ages without ever losing strength. Its striking symbolism led Boucheron to adopt this age-old motif as early as the 1860s: conjuring up both love and war, the arrow speaks equally of power and finesse. In 2025 Creative Director Claire Choisne draws on this legacy to write a new chapter for the Maison, with eight original and genderless arrow designs, all monochrome, in which strength and delicacy are bound together by the purity of diamonds. Today’s Flèche collection epitomizes the vital energy of those who stride through life fearlessly, without ever compromising their individuality. At Boucheron the past enriches the present, and each of these pieces holds the promise of a future shaped by one’s own unique trajectory.
Already a feature of Boucheron’s earliest designs in the 1860s, the arrow ranks among the Maison’s most emblematic motifs. Its rich symbolism invites constant exploration – by turns messenger of love, piercing hearts on delicate jewelry, at other times evoking the might of a warrior, through a miniature hunter’s quiver or a precisely tapered point and finely sculpted feathers.
The arrow has lent itself to a variety of aesthetics down the years: on some, the feathers became those of a peacock – another highly prized Boucheron motif – while other arrows appear to have caught on some foliage along the way. Influences from different artistic trends can also be felt, such as modern Orientalism, which saw arrows adorned with Egyptian motifs. In the 1920s the arrow became more stylized, embracing the codes of Art Deco and incorporating its signature materials like jade.
Through the shifting design languages of each era, one thing remains constant: the technical virtuosity of Boucheron’s artisans. Thanks to their mastery of every step – from sketch to final piece – they are able to replicate the sharp precision and purity of line that define the arrow. Marrying inventiveness with the finest jewelry savoir-faire, the Maison keeps reinventing this timeless symbol.
A fascination with the inherent tension in an arrow – that unique balance of power and finesse – inspired Claire Choisne to honor this iconic symbol by reinventing it without distorting its essential character. She wanted to preserve the modernity of its lines, while imagining new ways of wearing it. The arrow remains steadfast in its aim, yet now accommodates itself to the wearer: it can coil around a finger or a wrist, glide smoothly around a neck, or be worn over the heart as a brooch. This collection comprises eight genderless, monochrome diamond pieces with a resolutely contemporary feel.
In a nod to Boucheron’s historic archives, the first two render the arrow in its purest form – as a brooch: one very dainty, the other an XXL design that juxtaposes round and baguette-cut diamonds. Next are two rings: the first encircles one finger in round diamonds, while the second ring is more sculptural, sitting across three fingers and marrying the delicacy of feathers (rendered in round diamonds) with the rigor of a ridge formed of baguette-cut stones. The collection also includes an extremely supple necklace and bracelet duo – both designed to slip on and wear without any need for a clasp – along with a pendant and a pair of hoop earrings, all set with round diamonds.
All the virtuosity of Boucheron’s artisans is vividly showcased here, in the delicate crafting of the metal, the meticulous setting of the diamonds, the precision of every line. Each piece has been worked in an almost sculptural way to express and magnify the arrow’s dynamic motion, transforming a simple line into a manifesto of modernity.
To mark the launch of these new creations, Boucheron unveils a campaign that captures the dynamic spirit of the arrow and celebrates the qualities of assertiveness and self-assurance. In a choreography inspired by the movements of an archer, a woman and a man make these creations their own. Although the bow is invisible, their determination is tangible in every gesture – here, their target is not a physical but a mental objective, an intention to be manifested.
