The Tecnam P2010 is a four-seat, single-engine aircraft that has gained recognition for its balance between modern design and advanced technology. Since its first flight in 2012, it has become a favorite for many aviation enthusiasts. With its sleek design and impressive performance, the Tecnam P2010 stands out as a reliable and efficient aircraft in today’s market. Let’s dive deeper into its key features, performance, and various models.

Design and Construction

Design and Construction

The Tecnam P2010, developed from the P2008 two-seater, features a combination of metal wings and a composite fuselage. Its design focuses on stability and aerodynamics, with straight wing edges and a swept-back rudder. The aircraft is built to offer smooth handling, making it easy for pilots to control during flight. The all-metal structure ensures durability while keeping the aircraft lightweight.

Engine Performance

Engine Performance

The P2010 is powered by a 180-horsepower Lycoming IO-360 engine, with an optional upgrade to the 215-horsepower Lycoming IO-390 engine. These engines provide a maximum cruise speed of 140 knots (259 km/h) and a range of 720 nautical miles, making it ideal for both short and long-distance flights. The aircraft also features a fixed tricycle undercarriage with spring cantilever legs, ensuring smooth landings and take-offs.

The Diesel Variant

The Diesel Variant

In 2020, Tecnam introduced the P2010TDI variant, featuring a 170-horsepower Continental Motors CD-170 engine. This turbocharged engine can run on both diesel and jet fuel, providing enhanced range capabilities of up to 1,050 nautical miles. However, this variant has a slightly lower cruise speed of 136 knots and a higher price point compared to the original model.

Luxury and Advanced Features

Luxury and Advanced Features

Tecnam unveiled the Gran Lusso variant in 2022, a luxury version of the P2010. Equipped with the same CD-170 engine, this model focuses on passenger comfort, featuring redesigned interiors and ergonomic seating. Additionally, it boasts the Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite with an integrated autopilot system, ensuring a seamless and modern flying experience for both pilots and passengers.

Operating Costs

Operating Costs

The Tecnam P2010 offers competitive operating costs, averaging $111.64 per hour. This includes fuel, oil, maintenance, and engine reserves, making it a cost-effective option for private owners and aviation enthusiasts. Pre-owned models from 2016 start at $370,000, while newer 2024 models can reach up to $590,000.
