DXB now holds the record for the largest global deployment of Hearing Loops, with over 520 units installed at key locations including check-in counters, passport control, boarding gates, and information desks. Guests can simply activate the “T” setting on their hearing aids or cochlear implants to connect instantly, without the need for extra devices. This makes the technology practical, seamless, and a benchmark for innovation.

The rollout was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the oneDXB community, including Emirates, flydubai, Dubai Police, Customs, dnata, and other partners. This teamwork highlights Dubai’s dedication not only to passenger numbers but also to enhancing every individual’s experience.

The initiative aligns with Dubai’s Universal Design Code, which mandates inclusive access across public spaces and transport hubs. Installation was carried out with minimal disruption to airport operations, while frontline staff received specialized training to support guests of determination. This demonstrates that inclusivity in Dubai is not just a principle, but a daily practice reinforced by both infrastructure and human support.

Global Significance

According to the World Health Organization, over 1.5 billion people currently live with some degree of hearing loss, a number projected to rise to 2.5 billion by 2050. With figures like these, accessible communication systems are no longer optional they are essential for global travel hubs. By introducing the world’s largest Hearing Loops network, Dubai International reinforces its message: travel should be accessible to all, with comfort and clarity as top priorities.
The installation is part of a wider accessibility strategy focused on improving infrastructure and staff readiness. The aim is to ensure every guest feels welcomed and understood from curb to gate. With this forward-looking approach, Dubai International strengthens its position not just as the busiest airport, but as one of the most people-centered travel destinations worldwide.
