Abu Dhabi is gearing up to welcome music lovers from around the world as it hosts the prestigious International Jazz Day 2025 on April 30. The event promises a one-of-a-kind musical journey that merges traditional Eastern melodies with global jazz rhythms, reflecting the artistic spirit and cultural richness of the UAE’s capital.
UNESCO selected Abu Dhabi as the 2025 host city thanks to its rising status as a regional and global cultural hub. Honored as a UNESCO City of Music, the capital has built a strong artistic foundation with institutions like Berklee Abu Dhabi and NYU Abu Dhabi, supporting emerging talent and enriching its creative landscape.
This year’s event will feature a distinctive Arab twist, blending traditional instruments like the oud, qanun, and nay with jazz rhythms. The result is a mesmerizing musical fusion that tells the story of Abu Dhabi’s cultural identity bridging heritage with innovation, and East with West.
More than just performances, the celebration will include educational workshops held in schools and cultural centers. These sessions aim to inspire a new generation of musicians and ignite a passion for jazz among youth, fostering creativity and musical exploration.
While the full artist lineup is yet to be revealed, the event will be led by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and jazz legend Herbie Hancock. The concert will feature a mix of renowned international artists and local Arab talents, offering an unforgettable night of cross-cultural musical brilliance.
Since UNESCO introduced the event in 2011, Jazz Day has served as a global platform for cultural exchange and unity. Abu Dhabi’s hosting reinforces music’s role in promoting dialogue, tolerance, and diversity values deeply rooted in the city’s multicultural identity.
In 2025, Abu Dhabi promises a jazz celebration that goes beyond the stage uniting people, cultures, and hearts in an unforgettable musical moment.
