Fans of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man have a lot to be excited about. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have officially confirmed not one, but two major Spider-Man films on the horizon Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day. These projects promise to take the beloved superhero in bold new directions, from multiversal adventures to mysterious villains and a shift in tone for the franchise.
Unveiled during Sony’s CinemaCon 2025 presentation, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is officially set to hit theaters on June 4, 2027. This highly anticipated sequel will continue the animated saga of Miles Morales, once again voiced by Shameik Moore. Directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson have described it as the “massive finale” to the trilogy, tailor-made for the big screen.
After the emotional cliffhanger of Across the Spider-Verse, fans can expect the final chapter to push Miles into deeper multiverse chaos, likely reuniting him with Gwen Stacy, Peter B. Parker, and the rest of the Spider-team. While plot details remain under wraps, one thing is clear: this will be a visually breathtaking and emotionally satisfying conclusion to one of the most beloved animated trilogies of recent years.
The MCU's Spider-Man storyline is entering a new phase with Spider-Man 4, now officially titled Brand New Day. Scheduled for release in 2026, this film marks a significant turning point. For the first time, the title drops the “Home” theme, signaling a fresh start for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
The new direction appears to draw inspiration from Marvel Comics’ Brand New Day storyline, where Peter starts over after his marriage to Mary Jane is magically erased. While the MCU already explored memory erasure in No Way Home, the title suggests a narrative reset possibly with a more grounded, street-level Spider-Man dealing with new threats and navigating a lonely, post-Avengers world.
One of the biggest rumors surrounding Spider-Man 4 is that the main antagonist will be a female a first in Spider-Man’s cinematic history. While Sadie Sink is confirmed to join the cast, sources suggest the villain isn’t her, but possibly another red-haired actress with the initials "SS."
Fan theories point to Sarah Snook, Susan Sarandon, or Sydney Sweeney. Among them, Sarah Snook stands out as a potential choice to portray Shathra a shape-shifting, spider-devouring goddess from the comics. Known for her psychological manipulation and eerie presence, Shathra could introduce supernatural elements to the MCU’s Spider-Man, making the new film darker and more intense than ever before.
If Marvel chooses to bring Shathra into the mix, it would mark a significant tonal shift for the Spider-Man franchise. Known for grounded, city-based threats, Peter Parker has rarely faced supernatural foes in his solo outings. Shathra, who can distort reality and control other Spider-beings, would force Spider-Man into uncharted territory both mentally and physically.
This evolution could set Brand New Day apart from its predecessors, with deeper character exploration and higher emotional stakes. It also opens the door for appearances by other Spider-People, perhaps tying back into the multiverse elements introduced in No Way Home and Beyond the Spider-Verse.
With Beyond the Spider-Verse closing the animated chapter and Brand New Day resetting the live-action path, Spider-Man is poised for one of the biggest
