The story follows Faisal, who commits theft and murder alongside his friend Mohammed, with the criminal underworld dominating their lives. As the police uncover their crimes, the pair flee their village for a distant city before going their separate ways and Faisal returns to targeting travellers. His path crosses with Nasser, who discovers evidence linking Faisal to a murder and attempts to alert the police, only to find himself under suspicion and on the run as the mystery deepens.

Behind the pursuit at the heart of Psycho lies a collaboration between two generations of Emirati filmmakers. Amer Salmeen Al Murry writes and produces the film and serves as its director of photography, while his son, Sultan Al Murry, makes his feature directorial debut after gaining practical experience working alongside his father. Their collaboration brings together established expertise and the vision of an emerging Emirati filmmaker.

Filmed entirely in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, over 17 shoot days with a crew of 42, Psycho was supported by the Creative Media Authority and Abu Dhabi Film Commission. The city’s desert roads, locations and natural landscapes shape the film’s visual identity, while director of photography Amer Salmeen Al Murry uses imagery, lighting and camera movement to build tension and evoke its 1980s setting.

Psycho stars Omar Al Mulla, Asim Alawad, Mersal Alshamsi and Abdulla Al Jafali, alongside Faris Al Balushi and Sandra Hodges. The production also offered practical training opportunities to two aspiring young filmmakers, who gained experience across multiple departments alongside the crew.
