The Best and Worst Games of March 2026: Surprise Hits and Major Letdowns

14 Sep 2026
  • Which March releases are actually worth playing?
  • Why did some promising March games fail to impress?
  • What stopped 1348 Ex Voto from reaching its potential?

Delivered March 2026 fewer blockbuster releases than some of the year’s busier months, but still brought several games worth talking about. Standing out were creative RPGs and emotional adventures, while a few promising titles struggled to turn strong ideas into equally satisfying gameplay.

Three Games Steal the Spotlight

Led Dead in Antares the stronger releases with its blend of RPG mechanics, survival and management on an alien planet. Earned the game an 87/100 rating thanks to a more engaging story and improved gameplay, although its replay value remained somewhat limited.

Joined the highlights Esoteric Ebb, a CRPG built around player choice and a Cleric protagonist whose actions influence both time and events. Offered the game an intriguing option for fans of Disco Elysium and other choice-driven experiences. Continued Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf the emotional style of its predecessor while adding more varied puzzles and tense cinematic moments.

Big Ideas Meet Disappointing Execution

Looked City Hunter promising at first thanks to its appealing presentation, but failed its gameplay to maintain that momentum. Became the experience repetitive as its 2D shooting levels offered limited variety and maze-like environments.

Tried Collector’s Cove to capture the relaxed lifestyle appeal associated with games such as Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. Held technical issues and limited content depth it back, however, making the game better suited to occasional short sessions than a long-term virtual escape.

A Medieval Adventure Misses Its Chance

A Medieval Adventure Misses Its Chance

Takes 1348 Ex Voto players into a medieval setting through a third-person action adventure centred on a young woman pursuing her path toward knighthood. Creates its historical atmosphere and attractive environments a strong first impression for players drawn to medieval worlds and combat-focused adventures.

Weakens the experience, however, a combat system that needed more refinement, alongside limited RPG mechanics and environments that often felt empty. Remained the visual world one of its strongest qualities, but never reached the overall adventure the potential promised by its compelling concept.
