Renowned for creating game-changing supercars and hypercars like the McLaren P1TM, luxury supercar maker McLaren Automotive is venturing into the world of electric hyperbikes with the launch of its debut range of electric mountain bikes.
The new limited-edition four-bike range takes design cues from McLaren’s award-winning supercars. Designed by the same teams responsible for the McLaren Artura hybrid supercar, these e-bikes incorporate signature McLaren elements such as carbon-fiber construction and advanced electrification, delivering a true high-performance experience.
The e-bikes feature powerful motors that provide an exceptional power-to-weight ratio, a key characteristic in the development of McLaren supercars. The torque figures surpass those of other premium e-bikes, ensuring class-leading performance. An innovative digital display, inspired by McLaren car driver displays, shows telemetry information like speed, battery life, and range on a full-color integrated LCD panel on the handlebars.
McLaren offers four distinct models: Extreme 600, Extreme 250, Sport 600, and Sport 250. These models cater to different riding environments, from city streets to off-road tracks and mountain trails. The flagship 600 versions boast up to 852W of peak power and a top speed of 20mph/32kph.
Two models, the 29” hardtail and the full-suspension version with 29” front wheel and 27.5” rear wheel, are available in limited numbers. The Extreme 600W and Extreme 250W feature SRAM wireless XX Eagle Transmission 12-speed drivetrain, while the Sport 600W and Sport 250W have a mechanical SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain.
The McLaren Sport is an all-purpose mountain bike suited for various terrains. It features integrated components and a minimalist frame design. Riders can choose from five power modes via the digital display: Off, Eco, Trail, Sport, and Race, offering a tailored riding experience.
The Extreme model is a full-suspension electric mountain bike designed for maximum off-road performance, control, and comfort. It includes the same five power modes as the Sport model and comes with Pirelli tires, ensuring superior traction and durability.
