NEW LAUNCH: KHUN Introduces a New Category of Arab Wellbeing

03 Aug 2026
  • What Is KHUN’s Arab-Inspired Approach To Modern Wellness?

KHUN is introducing a contemporary framework for wellbeing rooted in centuries of Arab thought on health, environment and restoration. Set to welcome its first guests in Fujairah, UAE, in Q4 2026, the 48-hour experience combines architecture, landscape and intentional solitude to create the conditions for restoration, rather than relying on conventional wellness programming.

KHUN’s Vision For A New Era Of Wellness

KHUN’s Vision For A New Era Of Wellness

While wellness systems such as Ayurveda and shinrin-yoku achieved global recognition through codification, much of the Arab world’s understanding of health, environment and wellbeing has not yet been translated into a contemporary framework for modern life. KHUN, meaning “Be” in Arabic, seeks to bring that lineage into a discipline rooted in restoration, prevention and the relationship between people and place

Long before wellness became a global industry, institutions such as the bimaristan treated architecture, landscape, light, water and routine as part of the therapeutic process itself. Thinkers including Ibn Sina, Al-Razi and Al-Ghazali explored the Interdependent relationship between environment, balance and human flourishing.

KHUN draws on centuries of regional scholarship, reimagining the environment itself as the intervention. Designed around a 48-hour experience, it replaces schedules and programmes with architecture, landscape and intentional solitude as the conditions through which restoration emerges.

The first expression of KHUN will take shape through a network of architect-designed, deployable sanctuaries in remote natural landscapes across the UAE. Designed to be relocatable with minimal impact, the sanctuaries preserve the landscape while intentionally creating conditions for restoration. Combining architecture, landscape andKhalwah (the practice of intentional solitude) each retreat is shaped by light, silence, thermal contrast and nutritional simplicity, with Arab ideas of health and wellbeing informing everything from spatial design to menu development.

KHUN looks beyond hospitality to explore how the places we inhabit shape the way we feel, recover and live. There are no classes or prescribed itineraries; restoration emerges through the land, architecture and presence. Built to tread lightly, the concept is designed to sit gently within the landscape rather than reshape it.
