Baros, the Maldives icon renowned for its timeless elegance and authentic spirit, is set to host its first-ever art exhibition, celebrating the natural beauty of its private island sanctuary. The resort is partnering with acclaimed local artist Ali Ishan, affectionately known as Kurahaa Rappe, for a month-long exhibition launching on 20 November 2025.
A portrait of Baros: inspired by land and sea.
Ali Ishan, a self-taught artist whose expertise spans decades and a myriad of mediums, has created a body of work for this exhibition, which will feature a total of 12 pieces inspired by Baros’ pristine landscape and abundant marine life.
The collection includes:
Ishan’s distinct artistry, which has garnered both national and international acclaim, blends timeless craftsmanship with the vibrant colors and shapes typical of Maldivian life. His work is a beautiful reflection of the island itself: refined, nurturing and deeply connected to its Maldivian roots.
An enduring icon of escape
Baros has been an enduring icon of escape and tranquility for over 50 years, and this exhibition reinforces its commitment to celebrating the authentic spirit and heritage of the Maldives.
The exhibition will run for one month and guests will have the opportunity to purchase the artwork, allowing them to take home a piece of Baros at the end of their stay.
“Baros is more than a holiday resort; for many, it’s a tropical haven that feels like coming home. Partnering with Ali Ishan, an artist who so beautifully captures the essence of Maldivian nature, allows us to deepen that sense of connection for our guests,” said Ibrahim Shijah, general manager of Baros. “This exhibition is a celebration of the effortless beauty and quiet confidence that defines the Baros experience.”
