Every Wednesday, as night falls over The Lana Promenade by Dorchester Collection, China Tang Dubai invites guests to slip into a world of timeless glamour and whispered indulgence with Club Canard – The Silk Road Edition.
Hosted every Wednesday from 7pm in the Lounge at China Tang Dubai, Club Canard – The Silk Road Edition pays homage to the clandestine glamour of Mayfair’s 1930s speakeasies. Set within the restaurant’s striking Art Deco interiors, the experience pairs specially curated drinks with small signature plates and China Tang’s iconic Beijing duck pancakes, all enjoyed to the soulful melodies of live jazz.
Tracing the legendary route from its Chinese origins through maritime influences to Japan, across the Byzantine world, each drink in the Silk Road Edition of Club Canard reflects the movement of spices, tea, and ideas that shaped cultures along the route, reinterpreted through contemporary lens at China Tang.
At the heart of the evening is the Silk Road Cocktail Journey – a thoughtfully crafted collection of beverages presented as three distinct journeys, each following the same narrative arc from East to West. Beginning in Xi’an, the ancient gateway of the Silk Road, the journey opens with delicate jasmine florals, warming ginger and bright citrus in a refreshing highball that captures the optimism of departure. It then travels eastward to Nara, where maritime trade brought yuzu and shiso, resulting in a crisp, refined beverage with vibrant citrus and green herbal notes.
The route continues to Constantinople, the historic crossroads of the Silk Road, where smoky depth, saffron warmth and bitter herbal complexity come together in a layered, enigmatic serve. The journey concludes in Venice, where Silk Road spices once shaped Italy’s aperitivo culture – a sparkling finale of warming spice, bold bitterness and bright effervescence, celebrating the end of the route.
Guests can choose from the Temperance Journey featuring four mocktails, the Signature Journey crafted with house spirits, or the Reserve Journey showcasing premium spirits, with champagne also available by the glass or bottle.
Complementing the cocktail journey is a curated selection of small signature plates, each priced at AED 68, designed for sharing and savouring throughout the evening. The menu spans China Tang favourites, from delicate steamed dim sumbaskets and golden shrimp har kau to crisp vegetarian spring rolls and silky cheung fan.
Heartier options such as the dried Sichuan-spiced sesame beef, roasted duck salad and Australian Wagyu beef tart add depth and richness, while the restaurant’s iconic Beijing duck pancakes remain the ultimate centrepiece – a timeless indulgence that anchors the experience and invites guests to linger long into the night.
