It’s been 20 years since The Hoxton, Shoreditch opened its doors in an old East London car park, launching the first hotel in The Hoxton series. The brand now spans 19 properties across the UK, Europe, and the US, with more on the way in Melbourne, Oslo, Nashville, and Mexico City. To celebrate this milestone, the Shoreditch hotel has unveiled refreshed interiors, redesigned by Ennismore’s in-house AIME Studios to create a lighter, contemporary feel while keeping the signature Hox warmth and layered, lived-in character. Shoreditch will lead the celebrations all year long, featuring room drops, special-edition merch, content series, and 20th birthday surprises across all Hoxton hotels. Watch this space!

Lobby

Lobby

The refreshed lobby preserves the standout features that regulars know and love, from the poured concrete floors to stone fireplaces and iconic large-scale glass pendants. Floor-to-ceiling windows fill the double-height space with natural light. Shoreditch’s industrial history and heritage in silk weaving, woodworking, and glassmaking are subtly referenced throughout, with brick-clad walls softened by draped fabric lampshades and custom patchwork glass tables that blend Victorian motifs with wired glass. Tactile finishes and dark timbers add warmth and depth, while lounge chairs and low-slung sofas in earthy velvet and bouclé are accented with chrome and mixed marble coffee tables. High-top tables and window seats encourage people-watching and casual work, giving the space the relaxed feel of a communal neighborhood living room.

Art takes center stage, connecting the hotel to its East London roots. Works include Becky Baur’s painting of London Fields Lido, Alys Elisabeth’s giclée prints of the Rio Cinema and Pavilion Bakery, and pieces by local illustrators Tommie Liddell and Lucy Mahon. Accessories are largely vintage, with furniture reupholstered in collaboration with Rose Raw Rees, while custom pieces and contemporary finds mix seamlessly. Thoughtful touchpoints from London makers—including vases from HR Ceramics and items from Earl of East, Hackney Essentials, and ISHKAR—create a warm, homey feel throughout the lobby.

The revamped Hox Shop now sits by the front desk, offering a curated selection of London-sourced products, including Dr. Sting’s Hot Honey, sustainable HOX CHOC from LAND Chocolate, and Hodge Pots candle holders, alongside classic Hox amenities like Blank toiletries and branded mugs.

Rooms

Rooms

All 210 rooms at The Hoxton Shoreditch balance timeless charm with playful modern touches. Select interconnecting rooms are ideal for families or friends traveling together. Alongside the existing Shoebox, Cosy, and Roomy categories, the new Cosy Up rooms feature mustard sofas and a dedicated drinks area for relaxed stays. Iconic details like herringbone parquet floors and oversized circular mirrors remain, now paired with a calming color palette of muted greens, earthy yellows, and browns. Terrazzo, tan leathers, and woven rugs add tactile mid-century charm, while revamped wooden desks with stainless steel tops, chrome accents, rounded mint bedside tables, and conical frosted lights introduce retro-futurist touches.

Bathrooms come in two styles: light grey and rich navy tiles with fluted glass and terrazzo, or custom mint vanities with glossy brown tiles and hammered glass, blending elegance with playful spirit. Local influences feature throughout, from custom sketches of Columbia Road and the Tea Building by East Londoner Charlotte Joseph to Cosy Up cushions crafted with fabrics from Shoreditch’s Colours of Arley and British textile house Tibor.

The Apartment

The Apartment

The Apartment blends mid-century warmth with contemporary eclecticism, featuring seven private rooms and a shared Pantry that can be hired individually or together for meetings, presentations, parties, press days, private dinners, or intimate weddings. Iconic checkerboard floors remain, softened by painted column murals by Charlotte Joseph and graphic textiles, including a tapestry-style piece by Melis Duran inspired by Columbia Road Flower Market and Shoreditch’s ever-changing character. A sage green and plum palette is paired with plush seating, timber details, and patterned rugs by Pelican House and Sinclair Till for a tactile, intimate feel, while sculptural lighting contrasts exposed conduit, adding visual interest to the expressive design.

Hoxton Shoreditch Dining Highlights

Il Bambini Club

Il Bambini Club is a lively all-day Italian dining destination that brings a fresh energy to the ground-floor restaurant and wider lobby. Redesigned by French duo Friedmann & Versace in close collaboration with AIME Studios, the space blends two distinct design identities within a single open industrial setting. The result is a richly layered, glamorous restaurant that evokes an opulent retro trattoria and flows seamlessly into the classic Hox lobby. Ideal for long lunches, aperitivo hour, or late-night bites, the menu features indulgent Italian favourites, from silky pastas and vibrant salads to perfectly cooked steaks and traditional Italian dolci.

Llama Inn

Llama Inn is Shoreditch’s rooftop modern Peruvian hotspot, offering sweeping city views, standout cocktails, and an impressive natural wine list. The menu draws inspiration from Peru’s diverse culinary heritage, reinterpreted through a Brooklyn perspective, where the concept first launched in 2015. Unbound by tradition, this dual influence creates a distinctive take on Peruvian cuisine, complemented by a cocktail program focused on Pisco and Latin American spirits.

Hox Gallery

Hox Gallery is a dedicated space within each hotel’s public areas that showcases emerging local artists through seasonal programming. To mark its twentieth year, The Hoxton Shoreditch has partnered with photographer and long-time collaborator Ben Hickman on an exhibition celebrating East London.

A self-taught photographer, Hickman creates dreamlike yet grounded images filled with emotional depth. Titled Warm Observations, the series captures Shoreditch through a tender lens, presenting sun-washed, cinematic moments of everyday life.

Circular Design & Positive Impact

As part of the Shoreditch refresh, The Hoxton focused on reducing waste and extending the life of existing furniture and fittings. Instead of sending items to landfill, guests and fans were invited to purchase pieces through homeware sales, including vintage finds, mid-century chairs, armchairs, statement lighting, curtains, and TVs. This circular approach gave original interiors a second life while creating a positive impact beyond the hotel, raising more than £10.7k for charity.

Dis-loyalty

Dis-loyalty, Ennismore’s travel and food membership, rewards members for exploring new destinations. Benefits include 50% off newly opened hotels, 20% off first-time stays, and 10% off return stays, along with 10% off food and drink and a complimentary barista-made drink every day.
