Maison Proust is a new boutique hotel nestled in the quiet streets of Le Marais, Paris, celebrating the life and times of literary icon Marcel Proust. Created by Yoni Aidan and Sylviane Sanz in collaboration with renowned designer Jacques Garcia, this 23-suite hotel embodies the opulent elegance of the Belle Époque era, carefully curated to reflect the charm and sophistication of Proust’s world. Each suite pays homage to a figure from Proust’s circle, with meticulously chosen decor, historical art pieces, and rich textiles, immersing guests in a timeless Parisian atmosphere.
Guests at Maison Proust step into a world reminiscent of the Belle Époque, with its grand decor and attention to luxurious detail. Each floor features rooms named after prominent figures from Proust’s life, adorned with antique mirrors, plush fabrics, and custom lighting. The reception area feels like a private home, with hidden alcoves and exquisite decor that combine French sophistication with a sense of comfort and warmth. This timeless design invites visitors to enjoy an elegant escape within Paris’s vibrant Le Marais district.
The rooms at Maison Proust are each devoted to a different figure from Proust’s life, such as Sarah Bernhardt and Emile Zola. Decorated with embroidered fabrics, vintage furniture, and curated book collections, the suites evoke the personalities of these historic icons. From handpicked artworks to subtle details like gold-thread monogrammed towels, every room transports guests to a bygone era, offering an experience that’s both culturally rich and luxurious.
The hotel’s spa, known as the “water salon,” is inspired by Proust’s memories of oriental decor from his childhood. This spa offers a heated pool, hammam, and sauna in a Moorish style, crafted with marble, intricate tiles, and warm lighting. Designed by Moroccan artisans, this sanctuary combines luxury with a serene ambiance, allowing guests to unwind in an environment that’s both exotic and elegant.
The intimate bar and lounge areas at Maison Proust serve a carefully curated menu that includes unique cocktails inspired by Proust’s life. Signature drinks, like the “Madeleine” cocktail and “Baron de Charlus” nightcap, pair beautifully with light dishes such as foie gras with fig chutney and fresh cheese platters. This gastronomic experience complements the hotel’s aesthetic, offering guests refined flavors in a setting that feels both exclusive and welcoming.
Maison Proust is located in Le Marais, close to Parisian boutiques, cafes, and historic sites, making it the ideal base for cultural exploration. Within walking distance are the Musée Carnavalet and charming streets lined with restaurants and shops. The hotel’s proximity to such attractions enhances its appeal as a luxurious yet accessible retreat for travelers wanting an authentic Parisian experience.
