This summer, The Lana, Dorchester Collection, invites guests to rediscover the art of afternoon tea through a limited-edition collaboration with AVANTCHA, set within The Gallery, the home of the hotel’s signature afternoon tea. It’s inspired by the quintessential British ritual and the legacy of its iconic sister property, The Dorchester in London.
Running from May 1 to August 31, the collaboration offers a contemporary twist on afternoon tea. AVANTCHA’s expertise in tea meets the precision of world class pâtisserie, served on bespoke chinaware beneath The Gallery’s soaring ceilings and sunlit archways.

Guests begin with a refined selection of finger sandwiches, from coronation chicken with vadouvan curry mayonnaise and mango chutney to truffle egg with seasonal black truffle, alongside cucumber and cream cheese infused with yuzu, slow-roasted Wagyu beef with foie gras, and smoked Scottish salmon with caviar. Each element is crafted with precision and balance.
Guests will notice a playful conversation between tea and pastry. For example, delicate milk oolong scones are served with Devon clotted cream and World Pastry Champion chef Angelo Musa’s signature jams. In the classic tradition of afternoon tea, perfectly-baked scones are an essential component of the experience – and The Lana’s pastry team have taken them to a new level.
Meanwhile, thoughtful pairings of tea and pastry are designed to highlight AVANTCHA’s complex flavours and aromas. It’s an approach that transforms tea from mere accompaniment to central element. Highlights include a strawberry pavlova inspired by Rush Hour Berry tea, a rich chocolate fudge cake infused with milk oolong, and an apple tarte tatin enhanced by tropical green tea.
