Saudi Arabia is stepping into a bold new era for its film industry with the launch of a $100 million investment fund dedicated to fueling cinema growth. The initiative marks a powerful stride toward transforming the Kingdom into a global hub for creativity where art, business, and innovation come together on one cinematic stage.
Launched under the patronage of Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Cultural Development Fund (CDF), the fund is designed to support film projects both locally and internationally. Managed by BSF Capital with CDF as the anchor investor, this move aims to build a professional production ecosystem capable of attracting top talent and international studios. Beyond funding, the initiative represents a long-term strategy to nurture creative excellence and establish Saudi Arabia as a serious player in global filmmaking.
The fund will collaborate with some of the world’s leading production houses to invest in innovative projects spanning film production, distribution, and infrastructure. Its focus extends beyond local creations to international ventures that showcase Saudi talent on a global scale. With a strong commitment to global best practices in asset and risk management, this initiative aims to shape a stable, sustainable film industry that blends creativity with sound investment principles.
This investment is part of a larger movement to make culture a key driver of the economy under Saudi Vision 2030. It strengthens the Cultural Development Fund’s role as a financial catalyst for the creative sector, offering innovative financing models that encourage private investment. By balancing creative ambition with economic returns, the Kingdom continues to position itself as a regional leader in cultural entrepreneurship and artistic innovation.
The new initiative represents the second film investment fund led by the CDF, following the success of the Riviera Content Fund. Together, the two funds now total SAR 750 million, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s growing confidence in its cinematic future. With local productions gaining international attention and Saudi films appearing at major global festivals, the Kingdom is rapidly emerging as a major filmmaking hub in the Middle East.
By investing in film, Saudi Arabia is not just building an industry it’s sharing its evolving story with the world. Cinema becomes a cultural bridge, expressing the Kingdom’s diversity, modern identity, and creative ambition. With growing investments, international collaborations, and a new wave of Saudi storytellers, the Kingdom is set to become one of the most dynamic film destinations in the coming years.
