Audi Q7 Returns With New Identity and Bigger Family Role

02 Jun 2026
  • What changes define the new Audi Q7 design and role?
  • How does the new platform improve the Audi Q7 experience?

The next chapter of Audi full size SUVs begins with the confirmation of the third generation Q7. After more than a decade of the current model, the new version arrives with a fresh platform, updated design direction, and a clear shift in its position within the brand lineup. Alongside it, Audi prepares to introduce the more luxurious Q9, changing how the Q7 fits into the premium SUV space for buyers in Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf.

Design and Positioning

Design and Positioning

The new Audi Q7 brings a more modern and sporty appearance while maintaining its recognizable SUV identity. Early teaser details and leaked images reveal sharper design elements, including split LED headlights, a wider grille with a honeycomb pattern, and more sculpted body lines that give the SUV a stronger road presence.

A new exterior color called Alopias Blue Metallic adds a fresh visual signature to the model. Additional details such as chrome window trims, redesigned mirrors, and S Line styling elements highlight Audis effort to keep the Q7 visually competitive in a fast evolving market.

A major shift appears in the Q7 positioning. The introduction of the larger and more luxurious Q9 means the Q7 is no longer the flagship SUV. Instead, it becomes a more balanced option that focuses on practicality, performance, and everyday usability, while still offering premium quality expected from the brand.

Platform and Technology

Platform and Technology

The new Audi Q7 moves to the advanced PPC platform, replacing the older MLB architecture used in the current generation. This change brings improved ride comfort, better refinement, and more flexibility in powertrain options, including traditional engines, hybrid systems, and plug in hybrid technology.

The interior is expected to adopt a modern digital layout similar to upcoming Audi models. A fully digital instrument cluster, a large central infotainment screen, and a passenger display create a connected and user focused cabin environment. While some ultra luxury features may remain exclusive to the Q9, the Q7 will continue to offer a high quality experience with practical three row seating for seven passengers.

Performance oriented versions such as the SQ7 are also expected to continue, featuring sportier styling, larger wheels, and more dynamic driving characteristics. This keeps the Q7 appealing for drivers who want a mix of comfort and performance in one package.

The arrival of the new Q7 marks an important transition for Audi, combining modern technology, flexible powertrains, and a refined design approach, while redefining its place within a growing lineup of luxury SUVs.
