BRABUS BODO Gran Turismo Coupe honored with the Red Dot Design Award 2026

  • Why Did the BRABUS BODO Win the Red Dot Design Award?

Every year, the internationally renowned Red Dot Design Awards honor the best new products from around the world. With the BRABUS BODO, unveiled earlier this year, German luxury design house BRABUS (Brabus-Allee, 46240 Bottrop, Germany, Tel. +49 (0) 2041 777-0, www.brabus.com) has once again earned this highly coveted distinction in the fiercely competitive Product Design category, marking the fourth Red Dot award in the brand’s history.

Beyond design aesthetics, the Red Dot Awards also place significant emphasis on the choice of materials, the quality of craftsmanship, surface finish, ergonomics and the overall functionality of each product.

The jury explained its decision to present the Red Dot Design Award with the following statement: “The BRABUS BODO is characterized by the precise balance between sculptural appearance, aerodynamic integration and performance-oriented technology.”

The BRABUS BODO is a strictly limited, coachbuilt 2+2-seater Gran Turismo Coupe developed as a tribute to BRABUS founder Bodo Buschmann.

However, the exclusive Masterpiece Supercar impresses not only with the extravagant, aerodynamically optimized design of its carbon-fiber body. Powered by a hand-built 5.2-liter V12 biturbo engine delivering 735 kW / 1,000 hp and 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft) of maximum torque, the BRABUS BODO accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.0 seconds. After only 23.9 seconds, the 2+2-seater reaches 300 km/h (186 mph). Its top speed is electronically limited to 360 km/h (223 mph).

The BRABUS BODO was honored with this renowned award at the Red Dot Gala in Essen’s Aalto Theater in early July 2026 and was simultaneously presented live to an audience of industry professionals who had traveled from around the world. The jury explained its decision to present the Red Dot Design Award with the following statement: “The BRABUS BODO is characterized by the precise balance between sculptural appearance, aerodynamic integration and performance-oriented technology.”

With this honor, the new Masterpiece Supercar from the Bottrop-based luxury manufactory continues the tradition of award-winning BRABUS design achievements. In 2020, the BRABUS Shadow 900 “Black Ops” Limited Edition “1 of 37,” an exclusive, agile high-performance boat, was honored with the Red Dot Design Award. In 2023, the BRABUS Signature Night, described as “the first-ever immersive car fashion show,” received a Red Dot Award in the Event Design category. In 2025, the BRABUS BIG BOY 1200 earned this coveted distinction as the first BRABUS Masterpiece Motorhome.

“The BRABUS BODO is the next step for both the company and the brand, as well as a deliberate tribute to my father,” said Constantin Buschmann, CEO and owner of BRABUS. “I must have talked to him about exactly this kind of project a hundred times: a large coupé, a Gran Turismo with immense power, real presence and a completely unique personality. In the end, it took us eight years to make this dream a reality. Seeing the incredibly positive response to the BODO among our customers and fans of the brand around the world, and now receiving the Red Dot Design Award, makes us as a team incredibly proud.”
