Czinger Vehicles is preparing for what could become its biggest performance challenge yet. After setting production car records at several major American circuits, the Los Angeles based manufacturer now has its sights on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany.
Czinger Co CEO Lukas Czinger recently confirmed that the company has already collected data at the circuit and is seriously considering an official record attempt. The target would be the Mercedes AMG One, which currently holds the production car benchmark with a lap time of 6 minutes and 29.090 seconds, recorded by Maro Engel in September 2024.
The Mercedes AMG One currently sits at the top of the Nürburgring production car record table, making it the benchmark Czinger will need to overcome.
The German hypercar completed the 20.832 kilometer Nordschleife in 6 minutes and 29.090 seconds in 2024. Czinger has not yet confirmed when an official attempt will take place, but the company has already started gathering track data.
The new 21C Spyder could also target the record for open top production cars. Czinger says a formal Nürburgring attempt could happen within roughly a year, although tire selection, track preparation and testing still need to be finalized.
The Czinger 21C uses a compact 2.9 liter twin turbo V8 combined with an advanced hybrid system. Total output reaches 1250 hp, giving the car performance figures that place it among the most extreme road legal hypercars currently in production.
The recently revealed 21C Spyder uses the same basic philosophy while adding an open roof configuration. Despite losing the fixed roof, Czinger says the Spyder maintains remarkable aerodynamic performance.
It can generate approximately 1482 kilograms of downforce at 241 kmh with the roof removed, highlighting how heavily the 21C relies on aerodynamics as well as outright power.
The Nürburgring challenge follows a series of successful record attempts in the United States. The hardtop Czinger 21C has already established production car records at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and Circuit of the Americas.
Those achievements have helped transform Czinger from an ambitious startup into a serious contender in the hypercar world.
The company has also used its cars in demanding multi circuit challenges that combine road driving with track record attempts, reinforcing its goal of proving that the 21C is more than a specialized circuit machine.
Czinger relies heavily on additive manufacturing and highly optimized component design to create lightweight and structurally efficient parts.
The 21C Spyder continues this approach with components produced through advanced three dimensional printing techniques, including major structural and braking elements. The latest braking system is designed to reduce unsprung weight while increasing stiffness and cooling performance.
The unusual tandem seating layout also gives the 21C its distinctive narrow shape and helps the engineering team pursue aggressive aerodynamic targets.
This combination of hybrid power, lightweight construction and digital manufacturing gives Czinger a very different approach from more traditional European hypercar manufacturers.
