The Dodge Durango continues to prove that age has not weakened its appeal. Despite the current generation tracing its roots back to 2011, the three row SUV remains one of the most recognizable American performance SUVs on the market.
For 2027, Dodge is giving buyers another way to stand out with a new exterior color called After Dark. The deep metallic blue finish adds a more sophisticated look while keeping the aggressive personality associated with the Durango.
After Dark is a dark metallic blue paint designed to change character depending on the surrounding light.
Under direct sunlight, metallic elements become more visible and give the body a brighter blue appearance. In darker conditions, the finish looks deeper and more dramatic, creating a more aggressive visual effect.
The new paint is available as an additional option for 595 dollars and expands the color selection for HEMI powered Durango models to nine choices.
Dodge is not limiting After Dark to a single high performance trim. The new finish will be available across the Durango lineup equipped with HEMI engines.
The Durango GT offers a V8 producing 360 hp, while the Durango RT 392 increases output to 475 hp.
At the top of the range, the Durango SRT Hellcat and Jailbreak versions use the supercharged Hellcat engine with 710 hp, giving buyers serious performance in a practical three row SUV.
The After Dark finish becomes particularly significant for the SRT Hellcat Jailbreak, where personalization is one of the main attractions.
Dodge says buyers can create more than 16 million possible combinations by mixing exterior colors, racing stripes, interior themes and other visual details.
This approach allows customers to create a Durango that feels far more personal than a conventional factory configuration.
The Durango has always combined family practicality with the attitude of an American muscle car, and the new color strengthens that character.
After Dark adds a more refined appearance during the day while becoming darker and more menacing at night. That contrast works particularly well with the wide stance and aggressive body design of the SUV.
