Ferrari 12Cilindri Manuale Brings Back Pure Driver Control

09 Jul 2026
  • What makes the Ferrari 12Cilindri Manuale feel like a traditional manual car?
  • How does Ferrari distinguish the 12Cilindri Manuale from the standard model?

Ferrari has introduced the 12Cilindri Manuale as a special series created for drivers who want a deeper physical connection with their car. Limited to 1499 examples, the new model combines the character of a traditional manual Ferrari with the precision and flexibility of modern transmission technology.

At its heart sits a naturally aspirated 6.5 litre V12 that produces 830 horsepower and reaches 9500 rpm. Ferrari pairs this engine with its eight speed dual clutch transmission, but adds an innovative gear lever and electronic clutch pedal that place the driver directly in control of every shift.

The result brings the emotion of classic Ferrari grand tourers into a modern performance car that can accelerate from zero to 100 km per hour in 2.9 seconds and exceed 340 km per hour.

A New Manual Driving Experience

A New Manual Driving Experience

Ferrari developed the Manuale By Wire system entirely at its Maranello headquarters to recreate the physical involvement of operating a manual gearbox. The setup includes a traditional style gear lever, an exposed six speed shift gate and a three pedal arrangement with an electronic clutch pedal.

Drivers can manually select the first six gears and reverse while controlling clutch engagement through the pedal. Sensors detect the position of the lever and pedal before transmitting each command to the dual clutch transmission. Mechanical components inside the selector generate resistance, clicks and load changes that allow every shift to feel deliberate and precise.

The system can even prevent the driver from selecting an unsuitable gear or completing a shift without pressing the clutch. However, Ferrari has preserved many of the characteristics that make manual driving rewarding. Poor clutch timing can produce a rough shift or cause the engine to stall, while accurate coordination creates a smooth and satisfying gear change.

Ferrari has also removed the steering wheel shift paddles to focus attention on the gear lever and clutch pedal. Drivers can perform traditional techniques such as heel and toe shifting, while automatic mode remains available whenever comfort and convenience become more important.

Exclusive Design and Personalization

Exclusive Design and Personalization

Ferrari gives the 12Cilindri Manuale a dedicated Tailor Made specification that combines historic references with modern craftsmanship. A laser engraved side badge identifies the special edition, while subtle pinstripe details on the front splitter and rear wings pay tribute to the Ferrari 365 GTB4.

Inside the cabin, the redesigned center console celebrates the return of the classic Ferrari shift gate. A round aluminum gear knob displays the six speed pattern and shows whether the car is operating in manual or automatic mode. Ferrari also arranges the steering wheel, seat and pedal assembly around the driver to create a focused and natural driving position.

Customers can choose from 25 Ferrari colors, including Rosso Rubino, Rosso Dino, Nero Daytona, Blu Pozzi and Giallo Montecarlo. Exclusive forged wheels are available in four finishes, while Comfort and Racing seats feature six vertical grooves inspired by the six manual gears.

The number of cars also carries historical meaning. Ferrari selected a production total of 1499 units as a reference to the displacement of its first twelve cylinder engine from 1947.

With its high revving V12, physical gear controls and highly personal specification, the Ferrari 12Cilindri Manuale offers a rare blend of traditional driver involvement and contemporary performance.
