Ford Racing has taken a major step toward its return to the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours by firing up its new hybrid V8 engine for the first time. The successful first start brings the ambitious racing program out of the digital design stage and into real mechanical development.
The new powertrain will sit at the heart of a completely new endurance racing car designed to compete at the highest level of international motorsport. Its loud and clear exhaust note also offers fans an early preview of the dramatic character Ford plans to bring back to the world endurance racing scene.
