Lamborghini may not be finished with the Sterrato formula. Following the success of the Huracan Sterrato, executives at the Italian brand have suggested that a more adventurous version of the new Temerario remains a possibility.
Nothing has been officially confirmed, but the idea is particularly interesting because the Temerario brings an entirely different powertrain to the formula. Its 920 hp hybrid system could give Lamborghini an opportunity to create an even more extreme supercar designed to leave paved roads behind.
Lamborghini Product Line Director Paolo Racchetti has indicated that creating another model inspired by the Sterrato is technically possible. While there is currently no confirmed production plan, the company is not ruling out the idea.
Federico Foschini, Lamborghini Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, has also pointed to the commercial success of the Huracan Sterrato as an important reason to continue evaluating similar projects.
Modern Lamborghini platforms also give engineers greater flexibility when developing specialized versions, meaning a more adventurous Temerario could potentially be created without completely redesigning the car.
The Temerario replaces the Huracan with a completely new plug in hybrid powertrain built around a 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 engine and three electric motors.
Combined output reaches 920 hp, giving the standard Temerario enough performance to accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 2.7 seconds.
Top speed reaches 343 km per hour, placing the Temerario firmly among the fastest production supercars despite the additional weight and complexity of its electrified drivetrain.
A Sterrato version would therefore begin with significantly more power than its Huracan based predecessor.
The biggest challenge would not simply be adding ground clearance. Lamborghini engineers would need to recalibrate the chassis, suspension, all wheel drive system and electric motors to deliver predictable performance on gravel, sand and other loose surfaces.
The Huracan Sterrato provides a clear idea of what that transformation could involve. That model gained 44 mm of additional ground clearance compared with the standard Huracan and received a wider track to improve stability.
A future Temerario Sterrato could follow a similar approach with stronger underbody protection for the hybrid components, revised suspension tuning and tires developed to handle both paved roads and loose terrain.
