McLaren 788HS Ends a Legendary Supercar Era

12 Jul 2026
  • What are the performance specifications of the McLaren 788HS?
  • What makes the aerodynamics and braking system special?

McLaren saves one of its most exciting creations for the closing chapter of a celebrated supercar family. The new McLaren 788HS represents the final and most extreme evolution of the lineage that began with the 720S before progressing through the 765LT and 750S.

Carries the new model the rare High Sport designation, which has appeared on only two modern McLaren models before it. Combines the 788HS greater power, lower weight and advanced aerodynamic engineering to create a fitting farewell to one of the most successful chapters in the history of the British brand.

Offers McLaren the car in Coupe and Spider forms, with production limited to only 200 examples worldwide. Receives every vehicle individual attention from McLaren Special Operations, giving customers access to exclusive colors, materials and personalized details.

Extreme V8 Performance

Extreme V8 Performance

Powers the McLaren 788HS an evolved 4.0 liter V8 engine with two turbochargers. Produces the engine 788 PS, equal to 777 hp, along with 800 Nm of torque. Sends a seven speed transmission this output to the rear wheels, preserving the responsive character expected from a traditional McLaren supercar.

Accelerates the 788HS from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in only 2.8 seconds before reaching 200 kilometers per hour in 7 seconds. Continues the acceleration until the car reaches a maximum speed of 330 kilometers per hour, creating performance worthy of its position above the 750S.

Reduces McLaren the lightest dry weight of the Coupe to only 1265 kilograms. Creates this combination of power and low mass a class leading ratio of 623 PS per tonne, the highest achieved by any model within the 720S, 765LT and 750S family.

Adds an upgraded titanium exhaust system with four central outlets to sharpen the sound and reduce unnecessary mass. Offers McLaren an exposed carbon fiber body option for customers seeking an even more focused appearance that clearly displays the lightweight construction of the car.

Turns the 788HS into more than a simple power upgrade its revised engine mounting and specialized chassis tuning. Creates the result a sharper connection between the driver, the engine and the road while maintaining the dramatic acceleration that defines the McLaren experience.

Racing Inspired Control

Racing Inspired Control

Increases the aerodynamic package downforce by 10 percent compared with the track focused 765LT. Uses the design a new front splitter, an air channel integrated into the hood, a larger active rear wing and a Formula One inspired rear diffuser to manage airflow more effectively.

Lowers McLaren the front ride height by 5 millimeters compared with the 750S. Retunes the interconnected hydraulic suspension to improve body control, steering response and stability during rapid direction changes. Allows this setup the 788HS to feel more focused on a circuit without abandoning the precise feedback associated with road going McLaren models.

Equips McLaren the car with powerful carbon ceramic brake discs developed from technology used on the McLaren Senna. Provides the system consistent stopping performance during demanding driving, while new lightweight wheels reduce rotating mass and help the suspension respond more quickly.

Introduces the 788HS central locking wheels to this McLaren supercar family for the first time. Connects this motorsport inspired solution the car more closely with racing engineering while making the wheel design lighter and more purposeful.

Limits McLaren production to 100 Coupe models and 100 Spider models. Oversees McLaren Special Operations the specification of every example, helping each owner create a highly individual vehicle. Marks this strict allocation the 788HS as both a technical finale and a rare collectors car that celebrates the pure V8 supercar before the next generation of McLaren performance arrives.
