The partnership between LEGO and Formula 1 continues to bring playful entertainment to the world of motorsport. After the huge attention generated by the LEGO driver parade in Miami in 2025, the concept is returning at Silverstone with a completely different approach. This time, 22 smaller drivable LEGO cars will take to the circuit, giving every driver on the grid a personal vehicle and promising an entertaining warm up before the serious racing action begins.
LEGO has redesigned its Formula 1 parade concept around smaller dimensions, lighter construction, and individual cars for every driver. The 2025 event featured 10 nearly full size Formula 1 cars, with teammates sharing one vehicle. Each massive model required around 400,000 LEGO pieces and weighed approximately 3,306 pounds, including 2,204 pounds of LEGO bricks. The cars also used Pirelli slick tires and reached a top speed of 12.5 mph.
For 2026, the new vehicles are closer in size to traditional karting machines. Each car uses around 28,000 LEGO pieces alongside mechanical driving components and standard karting wheels. Total weight drops to approximately 617 pounds per car, while the LEGO bricks themselves account for around 143 pounds.
Performance also improves slightly, with a top speed of 15.5 mph (around 25 km/h). More importantly, every driver now gets complete control of a personal four wheel LEGO creation. The parade is expected to begin around two hours before the official Formula 1 race on Sunday, giving fans a fun and unpredictable spectacle before the competition starts.
LEGO and Formula 1 have built a long relationship that reaches back to 1998, but recent collaborations have brought the partnership closer to fans both at race circuits and at home. At Silverstone last year, LEGO created full size brick replicas of the Royal Automobile Club trophies for presentation to the race winners.
The partnership has also expanded through a wide range of Formula 1 building sets. Entry level options include small McLaren models priced at around $12, while complex LEGO Technic Formula 1 cars can cost between $220 and $230. LEGO has also introduced Speed Champions F1 sets for all 10 competing teams, giving fans the opportunity to collect cars from across the grid and create their own racing scenes at home.
With 22 drivable cars preparing to appear at Silverstone, the latest parade turns the LEGO and Formula 1 partnership into something drivers and spectators can enjoy together. The smaller size, higher speed, and individual vehicles should make the 2026 event more energetic than the original Miami parade while keeping the playful character that made the first edition so popular.
