Italian coachbuilder Castagna Milano has unveiled an extraordinary vision for the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, transforming the familiar sports sedan into an exclusive two seat convertible with a carbon fiber body and classic grand touring proportions. Designed as a potential one of a kind creation, this ambitious project combines Italian craftsmanship with the thrilling character of the Giulia Quadrifoglio. From its dramatically redesigned exterior to its luxurious cabin and powerful V6 engine, the concept celebrates the art of building truly personalized automobiles. While the project currently exists as a design proposal awaiting a customer, it offers an exciting look at what happens when traditional Italian coachbuilding meets modern performance engineering.
The transformation goes far beyond removing the roof and rear doors. Castagna Milano has completely reimagined the proportions of the Giulia Quadrifoglio, moving the front seats and driving position 330 mm toward the rear to create the distinctive silhouette of a traditional Italian grand tourer.
This dramatic modification allows for a significantly longer hood, positioned 40 mm lower than the original design and featuring an exposed carbon fiber section that emphasizes its sporty character. The revised layout also changes how the vehicle distributes its weight, while wider front and rear tracks inspired by the Giulia GTAm create a more muscular stance.
The exterior introduces striking Y shaped lighting elements, integrated brake cooling ducts, wider fenders, and a sculpted rear section featuring an active spoiler and aerodynamic diffuser.
Carbon fiber plays a central role in the proposed construction, helping Castagna Milano target a remarkably low weight of just 1,420 kg despite the extensive modifications.
Inside, the two seat cabin would feature premium leather upholstery, elegant wood accents, and specially developed glazing, creating an atmosphere that blends traditional Italian luxury with contemporary sports car design.
Surprisingly, the convertible would also offer a proposed 623 liters of luggage space even with its folding fabric roof stored away, making it a potentially practical companion for luxurious weekend escapes and extended road trips.
Beneath its dramatically redesigned exterior, the Castagna Milano creation would retain the celebrated 2.9 liter V6 engine with twin turbochargers from the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
Rather than focusing on additional horsepower, the Italian coachbuilder plans to refine the driving character through a longer final drive ratio. This modification is intended to reduce engine speeds during highway cruising, potentially improving fuel efficiency and comfort over longer distances while preserving the engaging performance associated with the Quadrifoglio.
The result would be a convertible designed around the grand touring experience, where powerful acceleration, open air excitement, and refined cruising come together.
Beyond its mechanical specifications, the project celebrates the historic Italian tradition of coachbuilding, where independent design houses create unique automobiles around existing platforms. Much like the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato, this creation aims to offer something far more exclusive than a conventional production model.
With its handcrafted interior, custom carbon fiber bodywork, and distinctive proportions, the Giulia Convertible represents a different approach to automotive luxury, one centered on individuality rather than mass production.
For collectors who appreciate rare Italian performance cars, Castagna Milano presents an intriguing opportunity to commission a truly personal creation, combining the character of Alfa Romeo with the craftsmanship and exclusivity of a bespoke grand tourer.
