Some classic cars were built to blend in quietly with traffic. This 1970 Cadillac Eldorado was created to do the exact opposite. Customized by legendary designer George Barris, the man famous for creating some of Hollywood’s most iconic custom cars, this massive green Cadillac delivers dramatic Seventies personality from every angle. From oversized headlights to chrome details and gold accents, everything about this Eldorado demands attention.
Transforming the already bold Cadillac Eldorado into something even more extravagant, George Barris gave this car a visual identity that feels straight out of a classic American movie. Massive headlights dominate the front design, while gold trim, wide whitewall tires, and special hubcaps add even more road presence.
Building these cars between 1967 and 1970 through a partnership with Universal Coach Corporation, Barris allowed buyers to order them directly from dealerships. Different versions carried names like El Caballero and Del Caballero, making them some of the most unusual factory linked customs from the era.
Finished in a bright shade known as Money Green, this example perfectly captures the flashy luxury style that defined the early Seventies.
Powering this custom Cadillac is a massive 500 cubic inch V8 engine, which was the largest engine available in the Eldorado lineup at the time. From the factory, it produced 400 horsepower and 550 pound feet of torque, delivering effortless cruising power for such a large luxury coupe.
Inside, the cabin continues the dramatic theme with soft leather surfaces and one of the most eye catching steering wheel designs ever fitted to a production based car. Rather than focusing on sports car performance, this Eldorado delivers comfort, style, and presence in a way few classic American cars can match.
Recently updated with additional details including curb feelers and fresh whitewall tires, this George Barris creation now heads to auction before bidding closes on May 13.
