Geely Thunder Sets a New Standard for Electric Driving

Electric motors already convert energy more efficiently than traditional combustion engines, but Geely continues to push the technology further. The Chinese automotive group has introduced Thunder, a highly integrated electric drive system designed to reduce energy loss, lower weight and free up more space inside future electric vehicles.

Combines the new system 12 major hardware functions and four intelligent software capabilities within one compact unit. Uses artificial intelligence to manage energy, charging, vehicle motion and system health in real time. Makes its production debut the technology in the Geely Galaxy TT electric sports sedan, where it supports strong performance and an extended driving range.

Achieves the Geely Thunder system an overall efficiency rating of 93.8 percent under the Chinese CLTC testing cycle. Describes Geely this figure as a production level industry record, placing the unit among the most efficient integrated electric drive systems developed for mass produced vehicles.

Supports an 800 volt electrical platform the Thunder system, while advanced control technology reduces response latency to as little as two milliseconds. Improves artificial intelligence energy management the performance during cold weather and high speed driving, helping the vehicle preserve efficiency across different road conditions.

Weighs the complete Geely Thunder drive unit only 75 kilograms, making it around 15 percent lighter than many comparable systems. Measures its vertical height less than 325 millimeters, while a lightweight magnesium housing helps reduce mass without compromising structural strength.

Frees the compact design around 28 liters of additional luggage space compared with a traditional electric drive arrangement. Gives this smaller footprint vehicle designers greater freedom when shaping the rear cabin, trunk floor and overall passenger packaging.

Demonstrates the potential of the system the Geely Galaxy TT, which uses the technology within an 800 volt platform. Produces the rear drive version around 328 horsepower, while the dual motor all wheel drive model develops up to 570 horsepower and can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.8 seconds.

Offers the electric sedan battery capacities of 52.4, 63.8 and 75.2 kilowatt hours. Reaches the longest range version up to 725 kilometers under the CLTC testing standard. Shows these figures how the Thunder system combines efficiency, compact dimensions and high output without forcing drivers to choose between performance and practical range.

Positions this engineering achievement Geely as a major force in the next stage of electric vehicle development. Focuses the Thunder system not only on producing more power, but also on using fewer components, occupying less space and extracting more usable driving energy from every battery charge.
