Mercedes AMG GT 53 Blends Electric Range With Classic AMG Character

07 Aug 2026
  • How far can the Mercedes AMG GT 53 travel and how fast can it charge?
  • How does the electric AMG GT 53 recreate the sound of an inline six engine?
  • How powerful is the new Mercedes AMG GT 53?

Mercedes AMG continues to reshape the idea of a luxury performance car with the new electric AMG GT 53. Positioned below the more powerful GT 55 and GT 63, the GT 53 focuses on a different balance, combining strong acceleration, long driving range and a more emotional connection to the brand's combustion era.

Uses the four door coupe two electric motors that produce up to 536 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. Accelerates it from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 230 km/h.

Long Range Electric Performance

Long Range Electric Performance

Delivers the AMG GT 53 up to 809 kilometers of estimated WLTP range, making it the longest range model in the electric AMG GT family.

Supports the battery charging at up to 600 kW under suitable conditions. Allows this capability a charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in around 11 minutes, while ten minutes of charging can add as much as 534 kilometers of estimated range.

Uses the dual motor system independent control to switch between rear wheel drive and all wheel drive depending on traction and driving conditions. Gives this setup the GT 53 a balance between efficiency during relaxed driving and stronger grip when additional performance is required.

Six Cylinder Inspired Sound

Six Cylinder Inspired Sound

Gives Mercedes AMG the GT 53 a distinctive sound profile inspired by a real 3.0 liter inline six AMG engine instead of simply copying the V8 character used in more powerful versions.

Recorded engineers the original engine using 16 microphones positioned inside and outside the vehicle. Collected the development process more than 100 acoustic measurements during stationary and driving conditions to reproduce the sound with greater realism.

Pairs Sport Plus mode the soundtrack with simulated gear changes controlled through the steering wheel paddles. Creates these virtual shifts a more mechanical sensation during acceleration, helping the electric drivetrain feel more familiar to drivers coming from traditional performance cars.

AMG GT 53 Performance

AMG GT 53 Performance

Produces the GT 53 536 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. Reaches it 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.8 seconds and offers the longest driving range of the three electric AMG GT versions.

Positions these figures the GT 53 as the more usable choice in the lineup rather than the outright performance leader. Gives it enough acceleration for serious performance driving while prioritizing range and charging speed.

Makes this balance especially relevant for drivers who want an electric AMG that can handle longer road trips without giving up the instant response expected from a performance model.

Produces the AMG GT 55 805 horsepower and 1,800 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. Offers it an estimated WLTP range of around 700 kilometers.

Raises the AMG GT 63 output to 1,153 horsepower and 2,000 Nm of torque. Reaches the flagship model 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds, while its estimated WLTP range stands at around 696 kilometers.

Trades the GT 53 some outright performance for noticeably greater range. Gives this strategy it a distinct position within the lineup, particularly for buyers who value everyday usability and charging convenience as much as extreme acceleration.

Plans Mercedes AMG a gradual market rollout for the electric AMG GT family, with the GT 53 expected to reach global markets by early 2027. Shows the model that electrification does not necessarily remove the emotional side of performance, especially when sound, response and driver interaction remain central to the experience.
